CREED III Review (2024)

CREED III is another movie in the ROCKY franchise about Apollo Creed’s son, Adonis. Adonis Creed’s world turns upside down when an old friend comes into town and wants to fight Adonis’ lead boxer. When Adonis was young, he followed his friend, Damian, to boxing matches. One day Damian and Adonis get into trouble, and Damian is taken away by police. Eighteen years later, Damian gets out of jail and comes to Adonis’ gym. Damian wants to fight Adonis’ lead fighter, Felix. Adonis only says yes because he feels guilty about the past.

CREED III is a well-made movie, but the beginning has some slow moments. It really picks up in the second half, where the jeopardy becomes more apparent. Overall, the movie is entertaining, with thrilling boxing scenes. CREED III has a strong moral worldview. It stresses commitment to family, love and forgiveness. The female lead has a wonderful depiction of assisting others, being loving and choosing to be happy in spite of hardships. Despite this, CREED III has some rough street fighting and boxing scenes, along with some foul language.

In CREED III, Adonis Creed’s world turns upside down when an old friend comes into town and wants to fight Adonis’ lead boxer. CREED III is a well-made, entertaining sports drama and has strong moral elements of commitment to family and choosing to love and forgive, but it also has cursing and violent fight scenes.

At a young age, Adonis went with his friend, Damian, to boxing matches. Damian was very good and would win almost every match. After a big match, Adonis and Damian go to a mini mart and run into a man they know, Leon. Adonis starts beating up Leon and police come, but Damian pulls a gun and is taken away.

Eighteen years later, Adonis has made an amazing career for himself and has retired in a beautiful house with a beautiful wife and daughter. Damian walks into the boxing gym Adonis now helps run and tries to convince Adonis to let him fight their top fighter in the world, Felix.

Feeling guilty from the years past and the fact Damian was taken in while he himself got away, Adonis agrees to have Damian fight Felix. Even though Damian is older, will he be able to fight Felix and make a name for himself? Will Adonis be able to forgive himself for what happened in the past and love his family well?

CREED III is a well-made movie, but there are some slower moments in the beginning. The movie really picks up in the second half, and the jeopardy is more apparent at that point. Overall, the movie is entertaining and has some very exciting boxing scenes.

CREED III has a strong moral worldview about forgiveness, love and supporting your family. Though they don’t talk directly about Jesus’ forgiveness, the movie talks about the concept of forgiveness. The movie also talks about the importance of family. The female lead in the movie, played by Tessa Thompson, has a wonderful depiction of assisting others, loving on others and choosing to be happy in the midst of hardships. Even though she has a sickness effecting her hearing, she wants to encourage other people and help produce their music even if she isn’t the one in the limelight.

Despite this, CREED III has some rough street fighting and boxing scenes, along with some foul language. So, MOVIEGUIDE® advises caution for older children and mature audiences.
