She was born November 30, 1934 in Galesburg, the daughter of Joseph and Doris (May) Foster. She graduated from Galesburg High School. She married Donald Sparling on December 16, 1951 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on February 27, 1984.

She is survived by a son, Dana Sparling of Texas, a daughter, Dawn (John) Horaney of Galesburg, three granddaughters, one being: Amy (and Joseph) Blanchard of Mascoutah, Illinois, and one step grand-daughter. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Jean loved making pottery and took classes on it at Carl Sandburg College. She was also very active within the Order of the Eastern Star and the Order of the White Shrine.

George is survived by his children: Timothy Smith, Jennifer Shannon, Sharicka Dortch, all of Galesburg; his siblings Ruben Miller of Galesburg, Lester (Linda) Miller of Galesburg, James (Tammy) Miller of Galesburg, Edna Watkins of Cincinnati Ohio, Maxine Miller of Ripley Tennessee, and Teresa Miller of Galesburg; his companion Carol Donaldson of Burlington Iowa; and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; his children Bobbie Sue Bond, and William Thomas; and his siblings Wiley Miller, Fred Miller, Major Miller Jr., Sarah DeWalt, Ethel Kemp, and Juanita (Miller) Cunningham.

George was born and raised in Brownsville Tennessee, moving to Galesburg in 1965. George had worked in construction as a heavy equipment operator, having great talent and knowledge for those machines. George was a hardworking man. He loved hunting and fishing. George had many stories to tell about himself and the outdoors.

He was born April 21, 1994, in Galesburg, Illinois to Jeffrey Allen and Lori Lynn (Carlson) Gardner.

Surviving is his parents, Jeff and Lori Gardner of Knoxville; a sister, Tarryn Gardner of Knoxville; a cousin who was like a brother, Matt Carlson of Moline, Illinois; an uncle, Scott Carlson of Galesburg; five aunts, Tricia Butler of Chicago, Illinois, Kathy (and Lance) Mitchell of Knoxville, Karri (and Jim) Pendergast of Galesburg, Karen (and Scooter) Lamberson of Silver Lake, Wisconsin, and Cathy (and John) Stromson of Abingdon, Illinois; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Carol and Kenny Carlson and Allen and Clara Gardner and an uncle, Kent Carlson.

Ty graduated from Knoxville High School in 2012. In high school, he played football, baseball and was on the Bass fishing team. In 2011 he was honored the All-Conference award in football. He completed his apprenticeship in plumbing in 2020 and was working as a journeyman for the Local #25 Plumbing and Pipe Fitters Union. Ty was both licensed as a plumber in Illinois and in Iowa. Ty was truly an “outdoorsman”. He had a passion for deer hunting and was featured in the Field and Stream magazine with the Boone and Crocket Award when he tracked down a 13-point buck with a bow and arrow. He also enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, boating, and riding the side by side. He loved sports and playing fantasy football with friends. He was an avid Las Vegas Raiders and New York Yankees fan. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, friends, and his dogs. Ty had an infectious smile and contagious laugh and will be missed by all that knew him.

Dorothy was born September 5, 1928, in Galesburg, the daughter of Herbert M. and Florence (Anderson) Allen. She married Phillip E. Duvall Sr. on November 21, 1948 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on October 2, 2003 after nearly 55 years of marriage.

She is survived by four children, Linda (Don) Thomas of Galesburg, Connie (Bill) Kemper of Galesburg, Phillip (Liz) Duvall Jr. of Sheridan, Wyoming, and Sally Duke of Galesburg; eight grandchildren, Tina (Keith) Thrasher, Scott Thomas, Amy Kemper, Todd Kemper, Jeff Duvall, Michael Duke, Jaclyn Duke, and Nicholas Duke; four great grandsons, Alex Kemper, Shadow Duvall, Shane Duvall, and Sean Duvall; one brother, Bert Allen Jr. of Galesburg; and a sister, Gwen Allen of Galesburg. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and two sisters.

Dorothy graduated from Galesburg High School in 1947 and spent her entire life in Galesburg as a homemaker to her family. She was a member of the Covenant Church and was involved in numerous church activities, especially when her children were young. Family and church were Dorothy’s life.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 21, 2022 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, April 22, 2022 at the chapel with Christine Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Dorothy’s name may be made to the Covenant Church or St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Surviving are three daughters, Terry L. Hunter of Franklin, Indiana, Linda L Carr of Greenwood, Indiana, and Debbie L. Guerrero of Greenwood, Indiana, a son, Steve (and Diane) Carr of Victoria, Minnesota, seven grandchildren, Marcy (and Jim) Stewart, Tracy (and Dick) Bollman, Kim (and Andy) Busch, Michelle (and Pat) Hall, Tammy (and Rick) Beggs, Rachel (and John) Cleveland, and Steven (and Kayla) Carr, several great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sister and their husbands, Ruth (and Clyde) Quarterman and Irene (and Mike) Welsh, a grandson, David J. Helms, a great granddaughter, Nikki Beggs, and a son-in-law, William H. Hunter.

Audrey was born in Monmouth and later moved to Galesburg. She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1943. In 1974 she moved to various locations in Florida, ending up in Boynton Beach, Florida until 2019 when she moved to Franklin, Indiana. She worked at Galesburg Cottage Hospital and later Westinghouse in Florida. She was a very active volunteer at her Boynton Beach community. She loved spending time with her family and playing poker with them, but she especially enjoyed winning at poker.

Surviving are three daughters, Jeanette M. (and Gilbert) Milton of Morris, Nicole (and Shem Hooper) Dzwonkoski of Hawaii, and Jessica (and Harold Knight “JR”) Dzwonkoski of Dwight, a sister, Judy Dzwonkoski of Joliet, seven grandchildren, Timothy Travis, Aubree Dzwonkoski, Dom Ramirez, Leah Larson, Jennifer Ramirez, Tayden Hooper, and Nevaeh Lynn Knight. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Jennifer Dzwonkoski, and two brothers, Rodney Dzonkoski and Ronald Dzwonkoski.

Ski was a free spirited soul who loved music, especially Rock N Roll. He enjoyed going to the casino, playing cards and completing puzzles. He loved his children and grandchildren.

Obituary Preview: Mrs. Lucy A. Nache, 90, of Galesburg, Illinois, passed away at 9:44 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13, 2022. Lucy was surrounded by her loving family as she departed this earthly life to join our heavenly father for her eternal rest.

Lucy was born on April 22, 1931, in Galesburg to Jose and Luciana (Alvarez) Mejia. She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1949.

On October 29, 1955, at Corpus Christi Church in Galesburg, Lucy married the man who would be the greatest love of her life, Jess R. Nache. Lucy devoted herself fully to her role as a mother. She understood the importance of providing her children with love, support, and guidance throughout their life. Lucy was proud to see the children that she loved so much grow into beautiful people, as well as wonderful parents and grandparents. Over almost 54 years of marriage, Lucy and Jess were united to provide the most loving and caring home for their family. Their dedication to family can be seen in the loving eyes of their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Together, they made a beautiful lifetime of memories. On June 8, 2009, Lucy lost her beloved Jess after many years of illness. However, she took comfort in knowing that one day she would be reunited with him in heaven.

Lucy worked for several years at the McDonalds in Galesburg. After retiring, she was able to spend as much time as she wanted with the grandchildren that she loved so much. Her Catholic faith was very important to her. As member of Corpus Christi Church in Galesburg, Lucy participated in the church’s Altarand RosarySociety. Lucy also enjoyed reading, doing crafts, gardening, and even watching sports events with family.

With the most kind, gentle and loving soul, Lucy will be so greatly missed by all those who loved her. For now, we will take comfort in knowing that she will be watching over everyone she loved.

Surviving is her son, Michael (and Cheryl) Nache Sr. of Galesburg, her daughter, Rosemarie (and Larry) Gutierrez of Galesburg, a sister, Rose (and Roger) Stockman of Galesburg, eleven grandchildren, Danielle Gutierrez, Joshua Pierce, Jarrod Pierce, Jade Otten, Michael Nache Jr., James Nache, Hampton Nache, McCall Perry, Blas Nache, Lakee Nache, Nash Nache, 41 great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters, and a granddaughter, Alexis Marie Gutierrez.

Rosemary was born on March 28, 1920, in Galesburg, where she lived until relocating to Peoria in March of 2019 to be closer to her family. Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, Walter B. and Mary A. Creighton; her brothers, Jim and Pete; and her husband of nearly 65 years, Russell “Bucky” Swise.

Rosemary is survived by her four children, John (Cyndi) Swise, of Harrisville, Michigan, Sally (John) Davidson of Dunlap, Jamie (Kim) Swise of Chicago, and Tom (Adele) Swise of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, as well as six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Rosemary graduated from Galesburg High School in 1938 and earned a B.A. from Knox College in 1942. While at Knox, she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority and was an active alumna of the Tri Delts following graduation. In addition, she was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church, Knox Fifty-Year Club, Sorosis of Galesburg, The Hawthorne Club, International Chapter P.E.O. Sisterhood, as well as Yoga group, Friendship Club, and various Bridge groups.

Rosemary was an elementary school teacher at Cook, Hitchco*ck, and Bateman schools in Galesburg. She had great love for her students, many of whom kept in touch with her throughout her retirement years.

She was born September 3, 1934, in Galesburg, the daughter of Walter E. and Helen (Lindgren) Carlson. She married Jack Martin in 1953. She later married Harold Griffith on November 27, 2004, in Galesburg.

She is survived by her husband, Harold; five children, Mike (Karen) Martin of Galesburg, Cheryl (Don) Labertew of Urbandale, Iowa, Lisa Martin of Smyrna, Tennessee, Mark (Ann) Martin of Galesburg, and Chris (Keith) Hanna of Galesburg; three step-sons, Tom (Debbie) Griffith of Lago Vista, Texas, Jeff (Ann Marie) Griffith of Orlando, Florida, and John (Debbie) Griffith of Lakewood, Colorado; 15 grandchildren, Shelby Martin, Kholby Martin, Brad Labertew, Kristin (Sean) Flaherty, Rebecca Labertew, James Labertew, Vanessa Delk, Chad Schlomer, Jordan Switzer, Hannah (Colin) Piazza, Kyle Martin, Cherish (CR Smith) Toal, Zack (Rachel) Weinberg, Kelly (Bernie) Narine, and Lindsay (Michael) Byers; 17 great grandchildren; a sister, Lois Malcolm of Galesburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Jack Martin; a daughter, Cathy Martin Russell; two brothers, Donald Carlson and Pastor John Carlson; and two sisters, Caryl Poland and Barbara Carlson.

Janet was raised in Galesburg, where she graduated from Galesburg High School in 1952. She attended the Open Bible College from 1952 to 1953. She lived in Buda for a short stint. After earning her associate’s degree from Carl Sandburg College in 1980, Janet worked as an LPN for 16 years at Galesburg Cottage Hospital before retiring in 1996.

Janet was a faithful Christian who was a Sunday school teacher and a choir member. She was currently a member of Bethel Baptist Church, where she helped with VBS and AWANA. She had been a volunteer with CASA and was a reading buddy at the former Nielson Elementary School. Janet loved her family dearly. She especially enjoyed having everyone together for holidays, birthdays, and family picnics. Some of her other favorites include her kitty, Bella, traveling, reading, walking, feeding squirrels and birds from her deck, and sharing a cup of coffee with friends.

Visitation will be 10:30 a.m. to noon Friday, April 15, 2022 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Funeral service will follow at noon with Rev. Lee Johnson officiating. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Baptist Church or the Galesburg Rescue Mission. Andrew was born January 7, 1994, in Galesburg, the son of Shane Henzen and Kimberly Marshall.

Left to cherish his memory is his mother, Kim (Jessica Andrae) Marshall of Galesburg; his father, Shane (Tammy) Henzen Diamond Head, Mississippi; his girlfriend, Amanda Johnson and mother of his son, Aanderson James Marshall both of Galesburg; his maternal great grandmother “Nana” Dorothy Dahlstrom of Henderson; his uncle, Doug Marshall of Galesburg and his cousin, Taylor Marshall of Galesburg; a half-brother, Jase Henzen and a half sister, Savannah Henzen. He also is survived by his cats, Maui, Mellie and Pouncer P. He is preceded in death by his grandparents.

Andrew attended Galesburg High School and had worked for Sav-a-lot. He had a love for baseball that began at a young age with T-Ball and continued to high school playing for the Galesburg Silver Streak Baseball team. He also was an avid Chicago Cub fan.

Andrew was a talented artist and loved to draw. Andrew was a kind-hearted, funny guy with a great personality and had a huge smile that could light up a room. He loved his family and friends and was very thoughtful of others. Which is no surprise that he was an organ donor, helping others and making it possible for him to “Live on”. His smile, his hugs and his funny demeanor will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

David was born August 20, 1947, in Galesburg, the son of Joe E. and Barbara L. (McKelvie) Nelson. He married JoAnn E. Monzo, April 16, 1966, in Galesburg. She preceded him in death February 2, 2019.

Surviving is a son, Michael E. (and Christine Miller) Nelson of Galesburg, a daughter, Beth A. (and Jorge) Hernandez of Columbus, Ohio, two brothers, Steve Nelson and John Nelson, two sisters, Bonnie and Nancy, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Luann.

David graduated from Galesburg High School in 1966 and began working for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad shortly thereafter. He continued to work for the railroad as a conductor just shy of forty years, retiring in 2007.

David was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He served in the United States Army during Vietnam War. David enjoyed being outdoors, hunting for mushrooms and fishing. He also enjoyed playing pool, watching movies and watching the Chicago Bears.

She is survived by her husband, Darrin of Peoria; her mother, Veda Burton of Peoria; her biological children, Melissa (Shaye) Smith of Hazelwood, Missouri, Ashlee (Nick Ruhl) Stanley of Galesburg, Cody (Amy) Stanley of Peoria, and Cassidy (Brianna) Stanley of Creve Coeur; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; two sisters; and many adopted, foster, and step children. She was preceded in death by her father; a son, Charles Maple II; and a brother.

Linda was raised and educated in Peoria, where she graduated from Peoria High School and attended ICC. She was a talented painter, artist, and singer. She enjoyed attending baseball and football games with Darrin.

Linda will be remembered fondly for being everyone’s mother and grandmother.

Obituary Preview: Mrs. Patricia Mae “Patsy” Feltmeyer of rural Galesburg passed away in her sleep on April 3, 2022, in Pensacola, Florida. Patsy was born February 21, 1945, in Sparta, Illinois to Harold and Mae (Dempsey) Guenther. She grew up in Pinckneyville, where she attended school, graduating in 1963. She went on to graduate from Southern Illinois University, where she received her bachelor's degree. She married Richard Feltmeyer on September 24, 1966, in Pinckneyville, Illinois. They spent time living in, Pensacola, Florida and Nashville, Tennessee before moving to Alexis, Illinois and eventually settling in Galesburg in 1969.

Patsy worked for Knoxville and Galesburg School Districts as an instructional assistant for many years. She took great joy from the relationships she made with her co-workers during this time and truly enjoyed all of the students she worked with through the years.

In her spare time, she loved watching her grandchildren’s musical performances and sports events, traveling, visiting with friends, playing pranks, singing in the church choir, and trying to convince Richard to let her get a cat. In her travels, she was able to see Alaska, Italy Israel, and Germany, and enjoyed her trips to Branson and Florida. She was a Chicago Cubs fan.

Patsy’s greatest joy in life was her relationship with Christ. She accepted Christ at the age of nine and was a faithful servant through her work in Sunday School, nursery, choir and many other activities and events throughout her years as a member of Bethel Baptist Church. Her family takes great comfort in knowing she is at peace with her savior now.

She is survived by her husband, Richard, sons Aaron (Robyn) Feltmeyer and Nathaniel (Carey) Feltmeyer, both of Galesburg, grandchildren, Abby Feltmeyer, Allison Feltmeyer, Alex Feltmeyer, Lauren Feltmeyer, Emma Feltmeyer, Sophia Feltmeyer, Caleb (Lindsay) Secor, Katelynn Secor, and Brittany Secor and great-grandchildren, Marllie, Averie, Stevie, and Bentley Secor, brother, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Guenther and Elaine Fruits, of St. Charles, Missouri and sister-in-law, Shirley Burton of Mattoon, Illinois, along with several nieces and nephews. He was born January 24, 1932, the son of Aden and Lois (Brashear) Van Fleet. He married Marilyn Zugg on November 1, 1953, in Galesburg.

In addition to his wife of 68 years, he is also survived by his three sons, John Van Fleet Jr. of Rocky River, Ohio, James (Kathy) Van Fleet of The Villages, Florida, and Joseph (Shannon) Van Fleet of Peoria; eight grandchildren, Rachel (Elliott) Rouse, Meryl (Bryan) Baskin, Christine Van Fleet, Erin Van Fleet, James Van Fleet, Austin Burns, Jocelyn Van Fleet and Ethan Van Fleet; four great grandchildren, Levi Baskin, Phoebe Baskin, Owen Rouse, and Arlo Rouse; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and three sisters.

John was born in Maquon Illinois but lived in Galesburg since 1944. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1950 where he was an outstanding baseball player.

John served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean War. He was awarded a Bronze Star, United Nations Service Medal, and a Purple Heart. He was a member of Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285.

John was a postal carrier for the United States Postal Service for 37 years, retiring in 1990. He was a proud union member of the National Association of Letter Carriers and his work record was rewarded with membership into the U.S. Postal Service Million Mile Club. John also served as a school bus driver and delivered Meals on Wheels.

John loved baseball. He served as the President of the Galesburg Little league and coached his sons throughout their playing days. John rarely missed watching the St. Louis Cardinals, and he especially enjoyed when the Cardinals beat the Chicago Cubs. John also enjoyed playing golf at Bunker Links with his best buddies and playing a rousing game of cards with friends.

John and Marilyn were members of Trinity Lutheran Church.

After graduating from Dixon High School in 1984, Peggy enlisted in the United States Army in 1984. She worked as a dental specialist in the Army and was awarded the Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and Overseas Service Ribbon. She was honorably discharged in 1988.

After moving back to Galesburg, Peggy worked as a security guard for many years for Guardsmark Security Services.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Florella Clifford.

Deanie graduated from Galesburg High School in 1962. She was a secretary for Godsil Insurance and the First United Presbyterian Church in Knoxville. The job she enjoyed most was raising her children and taking care of her husband. She was a member and very active in the First United Presbyterian Church including working the Economy Corner and quilting. She also made several quilts for the Quilts of Valor. Deanie had a passion for gardening and planting flowers every year. She was a proud fan of the Chicago Cubs, a comradery she enjoyed with her family. Deanie will be missed by all that knew her.

Susie was raised in Harrisonburg, Virginia and graduated from high school in Pennsylvania. She worked as a meat cutter in the former Morrison Cafeteria in Ocala, Florida before moving to Galesburg. Susie was of the Southern Baptist faith. Susie and Claude enjoyed square dancing anytime they had the chance. Obituary Preview: Fern Lucille (Lucy) Paulsgrove, 94 years, of Galesburg, Illinois passed away on March 31, 2022 at Knox County Nursing Home. She was born in Sparta, Illinois on February 14, 1928, to Harry and Edith Stewart. The family moved to the Oneida area where she attended rural Oneida schools and graduated from Galesburg High School in 1945.

Lucy married Donald Camper in Galesburg on October 5, 1946. Together they raised two children. Lucy was employed in secretarial positions at Rowe’s Manufacturing, F & M Bank, and Churchill Junior High School in Galesburg.

Lucy later married Glenn Paulsgrove on November 1, 1971, in Galesburg. They lived in Carbondale and Rock Falls before moving back to Galesburg in 1989. Lucy and Glenn spent 24 winters at Golden Vista RV Resort in Apache Junction, Arizona; after Glenn retired. Lucy enjoyed bowling and shuffleboard for which she received many awards. They went on many trips and cruises, including visits to all 50 states and most countries in Europe as well as China, Australia, and New Zealand.

Lucy is survived by her husband, Glenn Paulsgrove; her children, Larry E. (Mary Jo) Camper of Woodbury, Minnesota; and Kathleen Wolny of Galesburg; and her step-children, Steven (Christy) Paulsgrove of Goliad, Texas; Teresa P. (Randell) Crump of Cleveland, Tennessee; and Robin F. Paulsgrove of Dallas, Texas. She has fivegrandchildren, Sarah, Jason,Stephanie, Jessica and Nicholas; fourstep-grandchildren, Casey, Jamison, Zachary, and Lindsay; fourgreat grandchildren, Evan, Gwendolyn, Jacob and Alayna and fivestep great grandchildren, Carsyn, Breslyn, Evelyn, Jude and Maeve. She is also survived by her brother Blair C. (Joyce) Stewart of Galesburg, sister-in-law Helen Stewart of Galesburg, and several nieces and nephews.

Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Edith Stewart; the father of her children, Donald Camper; and her brother, James E. Stewart.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, April 7, 2022, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Vince Rohn. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Dick’s life journey began on October 2, 1931, in Burlington, Iowa, as the son of Truie and Margaret (Zaiss) Geffers. Later in his life, he met the love of his life and married Geneva West, on July 1, 1978, and became a loving step father to Geneva’s daughter, Sheila.

His impactful legacy will continue to live on through his loving wife, Geneva, and his caring daughter, Sheila (Mike) Wheeler, of Galesburg.

Dick graduated from Burlington High School in 1949 and immediately went on work at the BNSF Railroad as a Conductor for 40 years. During his career, he decided to servein the United States Air Force as an Air Traffic Controller from 1951 to 1955. After serving, he came back to continue working at the BNSF Railroad, retiring in 1989.

During his free time, you would find Dick fishing or playing golf with his friends. After a long day of golfing, they would go to the American Legion to play card games, his favorite being Poker and Pitch. Furthermore, Dick had a undeniable passion for caring to the neighborhood and stray animals that would come to his front door and patiently wait for him to open the door with a handful of treats! His unconditional love, altruistic personality, and heartwarming demeanor will continue to be cherished through his family and all who had the pleasure of knowing Dick, he will be deeply missed.

Cremation will be accorded. No serviced have been scheduled at this time. Memorial contributions in Dick’s memory may be made out to the Knox County Humane Society. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services in Galesburg is honored to assist the family with arrangements.

Forrest graduated from Galesburg High School in 1957 and later Carl Sandburg College, both in Galesburg. He was a police officer for the Galesburg Police Department for 26 years and retired in 1989. He later was the transport officer for the Knox County Mary Davis Home in Galesburg for several years. He then worked for the Warren County Sheriff’s department for nine years. Forrest was a member of the First Baptist Church in Galesburg, Illinois Police Association and the Police Benevolent. He was a baseball coach for the Babe Ruth League and recruited several of the Mary Davis Home players to play on his team. He had a special touch with the troubled youth, and wanted to keep them active in a positive way.

Lee graduated from Hillsboro High School, Hillsboro, Iowa in 1952. He later graduated from Northeast Missouri State University in Kirksville, Missouri. Lee was a hard working farmer his entire life. Besides farming, he always had other jobs along the way, including an Industrial Arts teacher in Iowa. In 1966 he was a Territory Manager for Ford Motor Company and in 1974 he became the Service Manager for Louis Lakis Ford in Galesburg. A position he held for over 40 years, all the while, continuing his passion for farming. Lee was a member of First United Methodist Church in Galesburg where he was an usher and the van driver. He was a member of the Galesburg Masonic Alpha Lodge #155 A.F & A.M. He was also very active in the Republican Party.

Mark was raised by his parents in Maquon, moving to Galesburg after graduating high school. Mark would travel frequently for work as a maintenance man for vending machines. However Mark wouldn’t only travel for work, but would travel all over the United States to take part in several large scale Civil War reenactments. Mark had a great knowledge, and passion for history. However, Mark’s true passion was for his family. He had been very close to his family and had taken part in many functions and facets of his family’s lives, truly earning his title as a brother to many.

Left to cherish his legacy are his three sons, Marcus King, Travis King, of Texas, Justin Hempfing-King and his daughter Jasmine (Joshua) Clark, of Galesburg. He is also survived by two sisters, Tina (Dean) Stoner, of Missouri, Jamie (Mike) Edwards, of Bushnell, Illinois, his niece, Jessa Yankee, of Bushnell, and three wonderful grandchildren, Aaliegha Thornburg, Kairi Clark, and Jackie Clark. He was preceded in death by his parents.

John graduated from Galesburg High School in 1984 and went on to obtain his CNA license at Carl Sandburg College. John began his career working as a CNA and eventually worked for Disney, he managed the Papa John’s in Galesburg for 5 years. Lastly, he worked for Hallcon transporting the railroad crews. During his free time, John enjoyed building models, working on his son’s race car, spending time with his grandkids and watching wrestling.

Evelyn graduated from Abingdon High School in 1946. She was a seamstress for the Bluebell Overall Factory in Abingdon for four years then a sales person for Neumode Hosiery for nine and a half years. She later worked in the JC Penny Catalog and Credit Department for 14 and a half years and retired in 1992. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Galesburg and the Christian Women’s Fellowship of the church. She was also a member of the Galesburg American Legion, Post #285 Auxiliary.
