But the good news is it happens to celebrities too, and when it does, it isn’t any less cringey.
Over the weekend, Drake was taking part in a Kick livestream to promote the online gambling site Stake with fellow rapper Lil Yachty when his card was declined in front of thousands of viewers.
“Yo, listen, I don’t know who owns Kick, but I know the chat wants to see Yachty go live,” Drake said as he puffed on a hookah pipe.
“I’ve been telling him I feel like he can take over Kick. That’s just a little business idea for whoever owns Kick; they need to cut the cheque for my brother.”

The mishap comes as talk of the so-called “Drake curse” resurfaced after he posted seven-figure Bitcoin wagers in favour of the Denver Nuggets in the NBA Finals. Following the Hotline Bling hitmaker’s bet that the Nuggets will beat the Miami Heat in five games, social media wisecrackers were quick to predict fans in South Beach should start planning the parade.
“I think this means Miami wins … per history,” one person joked.
The Heat lost Game 1 but came back to tie the series at one game apiece on Sunday.
